COVID-19 is the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that emerged in December 2019. Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans, coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections ranging from mild to lethal. SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) was declared the “Global Pandemic” by World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020.
